Vivid ruby. Cherry pit, cassis, candied flowers and licorice on the powerfully scented nose. Offers densely packed dark fruit and spicecake flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity and sharpened by a jolt of white pepper. Concentrated yet lively as well, showing excellent delineation, chewy tannins and a very long, floral-accented finish.
Reviews
Bright violet. Fresh and energetic on the nose and the palate, displaying sappy red fruit and floral pastille qualities and a hint of musky herbs. Sappy and precise, picking up hints of licorice and allspice as the wine opens up. Fine-grained tannins build slowly on a long, incisive finish that emphatically echoes the mineral note.
Lurid ruby. Spice-accented blackberry and licorice scents show very good clarity and lift. Chewy and energetic in the mouth, offering juicy dark fruit and floral pastille flavors sharpened by a dusty mineral flourish. The floral quality carries through a long, nervy finish that leaves a bitter cherry pit note behind.
Some richness and oak influence. There’s a refined, white-peach edge and some plush fruit flesh, as well as a long powerful, tube-like drive through the finish. Terrific wine.
Nice, steely and minerally accents, as well as floral aromas and white peaches. The palate has some very neat and taut fruit presence. Great depth, great drive and a restrained, citrus-drenched finish. Acidity is salient. Great wine.
Attractive peaches and green mangoes here. There’s real intensity and focus. Plenty of flesh and acidity, too. A very nicely aligned palate. Long and powerful with just the right amount of flesh.
A more refined nose with restrained stony and chalky aromas, as well as bright citrus and peaches. A very nicely crafted palate texture with good depth and very nicely placed acidity.
A very plush, ripe and slightly exotic nose with plenty of ripe peaches and hints of mangoes, all leading to a fleshy, smooth and even palate. Great freshness and purity.
A selection of grapes from different parcels lies behind this wine. With its dense texture contrasted with crisp acidity, it is fruity and has a dry core. Aged on its lees, the wine has a chewy character that will need to soften. Drink from late 2018.
One in a series of small-batch production wines from this major producer, this comes from the top vineyard of Côte du Py. The bold tannins and strong mineral texture are typical of this vineyard. Combined with black plum and berry fruits, the wine becomes rich, dense and worthy of aging. Drink from 2019.
