A selection of grapes from different parcels lies behind this wine. With its dense texture contrasted with crisp acidity, it is fruity and has a dry core. Aged on its lees, the wine has a chewy character that will need to soften. Drink from late 2018.
One in a series of small-batch production wines from this major producer, this comes from the top vineyard of Côte du Py. The bold tannins and strong mineral texture are typical of this vineyard. Combined with black plum and berry fruits, the wine becomes rich, dense and worthy of aging. Drink from 2019.
Cellar Selection. A powerful core of wood aging makes this a dry, solid wine that has excellent aging potential. Black cherries and spice contrast with the rich structure. From one of the top sectors of Morgon, the wine will be best drunk from 2019.
Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations is a ripe, sexy, full-bodied 2016 that has loads of black cherries, currants, chocolate, and roasted herb aromatics. It’s a big, rich, opulent wine that has plenty of underlying structure and tannic grip. Still, it has the purity of the 2016 vintage front and center.
Notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, chocolate and gravely minerality emerge from the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon JCB #10, and it’s a full-bodied, opulent, blockbuster style wine that ticks all the right boxes. With awesome purity, fine, polished tannin, terrific concentration, and a great finish, it will benefit from short-term cellaring and keep for 2+ decades.
