Tasted out of the barrel at the Domaine. This has a very fine bouquet with well-defined notes of citrus lemon, hazelnut, a touch of orange zest and great mineralite. The palate is well balanced, the mineralite coming though again, touches of spice and walnut furnishing the entry, fanning out nicely across complex, Meursalt-like finish. Lovely. Tasted November 2010.

Tasted out of the barrel at the Domaine. This has great clarity on the nose with wild strawberry, redcurrant and a touch of cranberry leaf. Floral and feminine, this is a delightful bouquet. The palate is lively and animated on the entry, supple, light tannins with a graceful, very pure, quite succulent finish of strawberry and fresh cherries. Lvoely. Tasted November 2010.

Tasted out of the barrel at the Domaine. This is a special cuvee from a tiny parcel planted in 2002 at a phenomenal 36,000 vines per hectare. The wine includes 80% whole bunches and was matured in two year-old barrels. It has a slightly reductive nose that is difficult to assess at the moment. The palate is very intense with black cherry, black olive, a touch of blueberry and even a hint of marmalade from the sweetness. Good acidity, good crispness and precision towards the intense finish. Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. The Premier Cru Les Cras was raised with 30% whole bunches and 50% new oak. It has ripe strawberry and cranberry on the nose, handling the new oak better than some of the other Premier crus with fine definition and sense of mineralite coming through. The palate is well balanced with ripe supple tannins, good structure here, quite masculine, although the finish is just a little disjointed at the moment. Hopefully it will meld together by the time of bottling. again, I perhaps would like to see say around 30% new oak rather than 50%. Tasted November 2010.

Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. This suffered less hail damage than the Charmes-Chambertin This has wild hedgerow, dark berried fruits on the slightly tertiary nose. This is a serious Bonnes-Mares. The palate is tannic and quite masculine, but good definition towards the finish. The oak is a little pronounced but hopefully it will subsume into the fabric of the wine. Rather stern at the moment. Tasted November 2010.

Delicate, floral raspberry nose. Bright and fresh, with lively acidity, and light tannins to give it grip and balance. Drink 2012-2018

Tasted out of the barrel at the Domaine. A blend from their two parcels at the bottom and top of the Grand Cru, this has a lifted bouquet of cassis, blueberry and dark cherries, prominent new oak but here in synch with the fruit and it should meld nicely over time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins on the entry, a pleasing sense of symmetry here with fine definition and freshness on the crisp, redcurrant and Morello finish. This is a very fine Clos Vougeot. Tasted November 2010

A fresh and notably more elegant nose features mostly earth and soft floral notes where the earthiness also characterizes the concentrated, textured and utterly delicious middle weight flavors that possess good if not sensational depth on the dry, clean and linear finish. I like the sense of poise here. (89-91)/2013+

Here an exceptionally fresh nose of citrus peel and white flowers merges seamlessly into rich and nicely detailed flavors that possess lovely intensity and an attractively dry finish that offers notably better depth and more length as well. This offers fine quality for its level. (87-90)/2013+

(from vines by the Morey border, 50% of which were planted in 1902) 50% whole clsuters. An intensely floral and spicy nose that is wonderfully elegant and admirably pure speaks of wet stone, red currant plus warm earth and sauvage hints that transfer to the muscular but precise and mineral-inflected big-bodied flavors that possess copious amounts of dry extract that buffers the very firm tannins and allowing for perfect balance on the mouth coating and linear finish. A classic Bonnes Mares that will require 15 to 20 years to arrive at its majority. 2024+
