Raymond Vineyards Reviews

Score: 90 | May 1, 2021 | Wine Enthusiast

This aged, small-production wine blends 75% Cabernet Sauvignon with 21% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Together, they offer waxy cherry and plum notes within a reductive environment of herbes de Provence, tar, and iron. The weight of the wine is thick and concentrated. -Virginie Boone

Bold, rich and plush, with silky tannins giving this backbone and a sense of sturdiness, yet the core blackberry and black cherry flavors glide across the palate, leading to a long, seamless finish. Best from 2020 through 2032.

Charming for the supple texture and purity of the flavors, centered on fleshy currant, blackberry and black cherry notes, with spice and cedar shades adding dimension. Drink now through 2030.

Clean, pure and aromatically complex, with tiers of dark berry, cherry, plum and spice flavors. Seamless for its age, yet finishes with dusty, fine-grained tannins. Best from 2020 through 2030.

Features a mix of loamy earth, cedary oak, vivid dark berry and mocha flavors and firm tannins. A solid effort, best served by short-term cellaring. Drink now through 2029.

Dark, rich and earthy, in a pleasing way, with a touch of chalkiness amid the mix of gravel, charcoal and tobacco flavors, firming on the finish. Best from 2020 through 2029.

Deeply fruited and concentrated, this is a showy wine that's sure to please many for its richness, chocolate-coated cherry profile and hints of liquorice and tar. Varietal complexity comes through as leafy herbs and cedar. It's modern, for sure.

This is a thick, herbal red wine that’s tannic in bittersweet tobacco, tomato leaf, black pepper and gunpowder elements, rounded by ripe rich blackberry fruit.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon District Collection Yountville is one of the standouts in the District Collection wines. It’s a balanced, complete, beautiful wine that gives up lots of currant and black raspberry fruits as well as more and more spice, hints of toasty oak, and licorice aromas and flavors. Rounded, textured, and, again, beautifully balanced, drink it over the coming 15 years.
