A round nose, deeply red-fruited – a slow augmentation of rose petals, but with that you have to accept a little green herb. Mouthfilling, with a weight of fruit and slowly growing tannins, but great texture and an impressive mid palate complexity. This flows through to the finish too – long and mouthwatering.

Forward and dense, in the nicest sense, with an aromatic weight of textured fruit, It fills your mouth – silky and concentrated. There’s an accent of barrel toast but just that, Mouthwatering, sweet flavor right to the finish this is really a joy. There’s some barrel here, so wait three years while drinking the Les Charbonnières. Excellent

Offers a broad, rich array of dense flavors, centered on blackberry, licorice and oak. The tannins extend the flavors and offer more dimensions, drifting into smoke and mocha details. Best from 2018 through 2028.

This is a spicy, earthy and medium-bodied selection, lengthy and concentrated in cardamom and forest pine. The fruit tends dark and brooding, with a brambly character balanced against the crispness of acidity. The spiciness persists through the finish. —V.B.

Dark golden in color and high in acidity, this vineyard-designate was made in small amounts with great skill. Yellow apple skin and a slight slant to tropical guava provide a fleshy intensity and burst of weight on the palate, before the wine settles down and finishes long and lean. —V.B. 

A tremendous singlevineyard wine from a highly sought-after site, this white sings in great salty aromatics, almost as if it has captured wisps of fog from the nearby Pacific. Expansive on the palate, full bodied and completely balanced, it teases in caramel, finishing lithe and bright. —V.B.
