This presents a complex overlay of creamy, vanilla-accented oak, joining ripe pear and honeydew flavors and gaining nuance and subtle accents of fig and almond.

A Classy Pinot. A Stunner!

This was seriously reduced, indeed to the point where the nose was unpleasant. With 20+ minutes of aeration the funk gradually clears but the point is that it wasn’t immediate. When it finally does, the nose reveals ripe dark berry fruit, earth and soft spice nuances. There is excellent concentration to the relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess fine depth on the moderately firm and structured finish that delivers
good if not truly exceptional persistence.

This flirts with reduction though if you let it sit for 15 minutes or so, aromas of dried flowers, red currant, underbrush and discreet earth nuances eventually appear. There is an elegant and refined mouth feel to the middle weight flavors that possess good verve, detail and minerality on the saline-inflected, clean and appealingly dry finish that displays just a hint of warmth. What this hasn’t done since I first reviewed it from barrel is to have developed much in the way of additional complexity and while it is still of course possible that it will in time, it’s typical to see at least some by this point. To be sure this is still an entirely lovely Gevrey villages but it’s not quite at the level that I originally foresaw.

Initially there is a mild trace of reduction but 5 minutes of air is all that’s required to clean it up and in the process to reveal a mix of dark berry, black cherry and violet scents. There is good volume and an attractive mouth feel to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess solid complexity on the lingering finish. This is a bolder style of Chambolle but what it lacks in finesse it makes up for in character. A good if not excellent villages that could be enjoyed young if desired thanks to the fine density of the mid-palate.

The ripe and brooding nose grudgingly reveals notes of dark cherry, raspberry, violets and plenty of earth character. There is both good volume and solid mid-palate concentration to the rich but detailed medium weight flavors that deliver reasonably good depth and length on the ever-so-slightly austere finish. The dusty mouth feel and moderately firm tannic spine suggests that this will need at least 5 to 7 years of cellar time and 8 to 10 wouldn’t surprise me as this is clearly backward at the moment. I would further note that this is a good deal more concentrated and serious than is typical for the Boisset wines.

This is really quite pretty with its pure and fresh essence of red pinot fruit nose. There is good vibrancy to the lush and very supple flavors that possess both fine volume and texture that continue onto the acceptably complex and persistent finish that displays a very mild hint of warmth. This is attractive for the price, particularly as a choice to consume young.

A relatively high-toned nose presents notes of red cherry, raspberry and a hint of cranberry. The medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive mouth feel that is lush and generously proportioned before terminating in a moderately long, dusty and warm finish. This is sufficiently forward that it could easily be enjoyed now though be sure to maintain a proper serving temperature as the warmth is otherwise quite noticeable.

A more complex and certainly more deeply pitched nose features notes of plum, dark berries and a hint of sandalwood. There is also more volume and mid-palate concentration to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a suave and very rounded mouth feel, all wrapped in a dusty and moderately complex and persistent finish that is notably more robust than the mid-palate.
