This opulent, richly concentrated Pinot Noir balances glossy cassis and blackberry flavors against a sturdy frame of tannins and seductive whiffs of sauvage. Laced with violet and black currant aromas and flavors, this is silky and elegant. A firm backbone of acidity and tannins lends support and spice. Mineral and smoke accents emerge on the finish. The aftertaste goes on and on.

Already showing notes of game and decaying fruit, in the best sense, this delivers macerated cherry, plum, animal, licorice and woodsy flavors. Stony and chalky on the finish, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, licorice, earth and chalky mineral. 

Grégory Patriat makes the wines at this negociant firm, and a number of his 2015s are remarkable, including this selection from a grand cru on the Gevrey side of Morey-St-Denis. Treated to 100 percent new oak, this vintage took it in and returned a wine with floral refinement, the oak turning its power toward elegance. The fruit reaches a near-tropical ripeness, edged in herbal notes, somehow feeling zesty and cool. The contrast is fascinating, sustained over the course of several days, predicting a complex evolution ahead.

This is a floral wine, ripe and creamy. It has spice and toast from wood aging along with good acidity and impressiver richness. The wine is full-bodied, spicy, full of yellow and pear fruits. 

A pure, racy red, featuring cherry, strawberry and mineral flavors allied to an elegant profile and a silky texture. Finishes fresh and long. Decant if you must drink now.

This wine feels cool and elegant, with the silky texture and floral spice of Chambolle. The fruit contrasts raspberries with rosemary-scented tannins, the herbal character winning out for now. Cellar it to let the fruit evolve.

This is a youthful, fruity wine with crisp yellow-fruit and citrus flavors, with a toastiness from wood aging. Sourced from Saint-Aubin, it has a cool, fresh feel that complements its pristine fruitiness. It’s for drinking soon, but will also improve with age through 2021.

). Opulent, ripe and fruity, this is classic Saint-Aubin. Generous fruitiness is balanced with crisp acidity and touches of minerality and spicy wood. Its fruitiness makes it accessible now, but several years’ aging will make it even better and certainly more complex.

Cellar Selection. While soft and opulent initially this wine reveals a structured, mineral character on the palate. Ripe red cherry and black plum flavors pair well with firm, dry tannins and hints of wood aging. This is an elegant wine that needs aging. Don’t drink before 2017.

Already impressive, this wine shows great fruit for the vintage as well as structure.  Ripe with black cherries and berries, it has all of Pinot Noir’s rich juiciness, but hints of smoke add complexity as well.  Structured and a shade dark, it needs time to mature.  Drink from 2017.
