Juicy, expansive and generous in cherry cola, orange peel and pomegranate, this is a profoundly rich, round and rewarding wine—a showcase of the varietal that’s hearty in tannin and oak but ultimately balanced in profile.
Earthy cola, cherry and strawberry give this lush fruit-forward wine an undeniable richness and concentration, within a thick structure of integrated tannin and big oak. It delivers on varietal character within a big style.
This has undeniably inviting aromatics of ginger and apple blossom that puncture the nose before unleashing a fleshy full-bodied blend of citrus and tropical flavor on the palate. It’s rich and lush with enough acidity to keep it fresh and lively in the glass.
Ripe and powerful, featuring flavors of dark plum, currant and black olive that are loaded with Asian spice notes. Hints of chocolate and cream emerge on the richly textured finish, with steeped tea details. Drink now through 2024.
Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir No. 6 features baked black berry, black cherry and blueberry with notes of soil, violets, charcuterie and savory herbs. Medium to full-bodied with great concentration of fruit in the mouth, it has lots of savory and spicy character, with fine, grainy tannins and a layered finish.
The 2016 Pinot Noir No. 22 is medium to deep ruby-purple with a gregarious nose of baked blackberry and black cherry with savory notions of cracked black pepper, fried herbs, bay leaf and forest floor with potpourri hints. Medium to full-bodied with a soft, silky texture, it offers concentrated savory fruits, grainy-textured tannins and an evolving finish.
The 2016 Passion Red Blend is another beauty and checks in as mostly Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 19% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. This full-bodied, ripe, sweetly fruited effort has loads of jammy blackberry fruits, licorice, saddle leather, and graphite in its layered, charming, opulent profile. It’s already drinking great yet has another 15-20 years of prime drinking.
This is made from 80% Pinot Noir, the remainder Chardonnay, both coming from both the Napa and Sonoma sides of the appellation. Inviting in wild strawberry, it is dry and stony and exuberant in earthy mineral aspects of crushed rock and dried herb.
Super-ripe black cherry, crème de cassis, sweet French oak, graphite, licorice and mint infuse Jean-Charles Boisset's 2015 Knockout. Powerful and ample, with considerable aromatic nuance, the 2015 has a lot going on. It will be even better in a few years, once the tannins soften.
The 2015 No. 10 is one of the more polished wines in the range. The No. 10 isn't quite as flamboyant as some other wines in the range, but it more than makes up for that with its persistence and shapely feel. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate and bright floral notes are some of the signatures.
The 2015 Leopard is a deep, powerful wine laced with the essence of sweet red cherry, pomegranate, licorice, white chocolate, spice and new leather. Pliant and unctuous, but with plenty of tannic clout, the 2015 has much to recommend it.
Notably smoky and toasty, with a strong yet integrated oak presence joining a chorus of blackberry, black licorice, dried herb and cedar flavors, ending with a chewy lead pencil edge. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The 2014 Chardonnay No. 33 has pineapple, green mango and yuzu zest notes with suggestions of toasted almonds, croissant and orange blossoms. Medium-bodied with great finesse and a gorgeous satiny texture, it delivers fantastic flavor intensity with plenty of freshness and minerally persistence.
