Gevrey-Chambertin “Les Evocelles” Reviews

Score: 88-90 | February 1, 2012 | The Wine Advocate
The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles bursts onto the palate with expressive dark fruit. This is an especially round, generous style of Gevrey. Slightly sauvage notes come through on the finish, but there is more than enough fruit to balance some of the wine’s wilder leanings. Vincent used 50% whole clusters here. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

A cooler if not necessarily more refined nose speaks of airy scents that included high-toned red pinot fruit, floral and stone nuances with undertones of warm earth and iron. There is a really attractive sense of energy and even more minerality on the precise, dusty, focused and impressively intense medium weight flavors that possess outstanding complexity and terrific length. This is a knockout for its level.
