The Count’s Selection Pinot Gris bottle

The Vinicultural Society explores clonal selections, varietals and the incredible terroir of Sonoma County. The Count identified the Sonoma Valley climate and soil as the optimal location within the County for growing quality Pinot Gris. We honor his vision with The Count’s Selection Pinot Gris.

White pepper and matchstick come to the fore aromatically in this crisp white that’s fuller bodied on the palate than one would expect given the aromatics. Apple and pear give a complex, autumnal fruit presence that leads up to a ripe, creamy finish.

  • Winemaking

The wine was fermented in 100% stainless steel, with no barrel aging, and stirred in tank on lees to impart both fullness and a slight creaminess to the mouthfeel.

  • Nose

This is a medium-bodied wine with fresh aromas of apple and pear.

  • Palate

Displaying a great balanced minerality, flavors of Meyer lemon, white peach and honeydew melon lead to a crisp, clean finish.
