Our Wines

Chateau Buena Vista

  • The self-proclaimed Count, and our founder, Agoston Haraszthy, understood that great wine comes not only from great grapes, but also from great places. In the 1860’s Buena Vista covered more than 6,000 acres reaching from the southernmost part of Sonoma Valley into Napa County. Both regions offer a unique terroir – the magical combination of all the attributes required to create outstanding wines of a particular site – from the soil, to the climate, to the site’s exposure to the sun, to the vine itself. With the release of the Chateau Buena Vista wines, we celebrate and honor Buena Vista’s indelible presence and significant contributions to the California wine world. These wines are a culmination of the storied history of Buena Vista ... a story like no other.
  • In the 1860’s Buena Vista covered more than 6,000 acres that ran up into the foothills and into Napa County. In 1861, our founder, Count Haraszthy, journeyed to Europe to procure the finest grapevines. While in Bordeaux, he declared “Cabernet Sauvignon is its unsurpassed grape; the wine made of it possesses splendid color and an exquisite bouquet.’ Bringing choice cuttings back to California, he propagated them at Buena Vista and bringing Cabernet Sauvignon to the Napa Valley. We celebrate Buena Vista’s historic contribution to Napa wine by offering this rich, dense and opulent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

North Coast

  • With its roots so deeply ensconced in the foundations of Sonoma where it was established in 1857, Buena Vista Winery is again introducing wines from the North Coast. These wines include a diverse array of varietals that celebrate the diversity of the North Coast’s terroir and the contribution of Buena Vista to establishing the California wine world.
  • Our North Coast Chardonnay opens with delicious aromas of Fuji apple and vanilla with a touch of soft baking spice. Rich flavors of Asian pear, white peach and lemon are accented with flavors of vanilla oak and a touch of smoke.
  • Enticing aromas of raspberry, cocoa powder, clove and cardamom open our North Coast Pinot Noir. Flavors of red fruits, cherry pie and hints of cinnamon softly spread across the palate.
  • A refreshing Sauvignon Blanc perfect for those summer days. Its crisp acidity is equally balanced with good structure and showcases flavors of lemon, some grassiness and a touch of white pepper.

The Founders

  • Buena Vista Winery, founded in 1857, has a rich and unrivaled heritage as the first premium — and certainly the most colorful — of all of the wineries in California. Its founder, Agoston Haraszthy, the self-proclaimed “Count of Buena Vista,” was a vivacious and eccentric pioneer with a veritable love and unending commitment to California wine. Nearly 164 years later, and after facing many challenges, Buena Vista Winery has not only endured but, is thriving. 1857 Red Wine honors this storied history and is a reflection of the quality, dedication and revitalization of the winery since joining Boisset Collection in 2011.
  • Our Chateau Buena Vista Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates and honors Buena Vista’s indelible presence and significant contributions to the California wine world. Buena Vista has returned to Napa Valley, where Cabernet is the King, if not for the Count.
  • In partnership with the largest family-owned proprietors of vineyards in Champagne, Buena Vista is proud to present our La Victoire Brut Champagne. This classic Champagne is made in the traditional style and is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Elegantly crafted, it offers the heritage of an incomparable style created to delight and make all great occasions special
  • Intriguing aromas of blueberry, black cherry and plum lead to flavors of dark chocolate, cassis and a touch of violet.
  • From prestigious vineyards across Sonoma, The Count’s intriguing varietals intermingle seamlessly to produce an elegant and complex wine.
  • The Founder is an expressive blend, bringing together Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Charbono harvested from distinguished vineyards across Sonoma Valley.
  • Succulent flavors of plum, raspberry and black cardamom lead to luscious, ripe tannins and a long, demanding finish.
  • The Sheriff of Buena Vista is deserving of its name. This bold wine is an authoritative blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache.
