Fleshy and direct, with a toasty frame to the crushed blackberry, plum sauce and dark cocoa notes. Drink now. 6,700 cases made.

Plush and spice-filled, this also has a smoky cast to the cherry and plum notes. Though backed by a solid structure, this is ready to enjoy. Moderate length. Drink now through 2018. 450 cases made. –BS

The 2009 Pommard Les Petits Noizons presents a plump, suave expression of fruit. Silky tannins frame the vibrant, energetic finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019.
Biodynamic farming and non-interventionalist winemaking are at the heart of the approach at Domaine de la Vougeraie. The 2009s saw roughly a 25 days of maceration (including a week of cold soak) with one punch down a day. Once in barrel racking was kept to a bare minimum. A number of wines were bottled in late 2010 and early 2011. I tasted these wines with winemaker Pierre Vincent in March 2011.

The 2009 Savigny-les-Beaune Les Marconnets is an energetic, focused wine laced with crushed flowers, licorice, tar and spices. All of the elements meld together nicely on the textured, mineral-driven finish. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2020.

A pleasingly light Pinot from Boisset Family Estates—whose holdings are in both Burgundy and California—makes a Tetra Pak wine that spans both continents as well. It's a California wine that's lively, drinkable and, well, quite cheap.

Lots of pretty light red berry and strawberry, cherry fruit with a nice hand of freshness cleaning things up on the finish.

Cherry and strawberry pie like fruit on the tongue with excellent balance and a lovely savory finish.

Moderate reduction knocks down the nose though there is good energy to the delicious citrus-infused flavors that are delicious and quite dry on the acceptably long finish. To enjoy young. (86-89)/2012+
