Bright medium ruby. High-toned, very primary aromas of blueberry, licorice and menthol. Densely packed but not yet particularly sweet, with sexy mineral lift to the black fruit flavors. The largest-scaled of these three vintages and evolving quite slowly. The fruit comes from western St. Helena and the eastern side of Oakville and includes some clone 337 for the first time.

The 2012 Clos de Vougeot is deep, dense, powerful and earthy. Here, it is the wine's pure depth and resonance that stand out. I imagine the 2012 will start to drink beautifully in a handful of years, once the tannins start to soften a bit.

An utterly impeccable wine, 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air impresses for its definition and sweet, perfumed fruit. Black cherry, mint, violet and hard candy notes flow effortlessly from this silky, polished 1er Cru Burgundy. This is pure finesse. Producti

The 2012 Nuits St. Georges Les Damodes is plump, juicy and inviting on the palate, with lovely depth and resonance. This is another wine that comes across as raw and not fully formed. In this case, the malos aren't fully finished yet. Still, there appears
