Fresh, with snappy raspberry, watermelon and strawberry fruit that's focused and vibrant, ending with firm tannins that show a pleasant crushed rock loaminess. Drink now through 2023. - J.L.

Decant this to allow the initial reduction to blow off. Underneath there's a sappy Russian River chardonnay with exuberant fruit ripeness, the aromas suggesting peach and apricot. It's a sunny white to serve well chilled with grilled chicken.

Juicy and expressive, with black cherry, plum compote, dried lavender, vanilla bean and smooth, integrated tannins. A spicy cigar box note comes in on the finish where the tannins firm up pleasingly.

The intense vanilla oak-tinged citrus and green apple flavors make this a pleasing effort, gaining spice and nuance on the finish.

Full-bodied, with ripe baked apple, spice and light cedary oak notes. The flavors stay true.

Green pear, apple and spicy nutmeg scents show a pithy touch, with a dash of charred oak.

There is just enough wood to notice on the ever-so-slightly reduced nose so I would suggest giving this 15 to 20 minutes of air if you’re going to try a bottle in its youth. There is an undercurrent of minerality that adds lift to the delicious, round and supple medium weight flavors that possess good punch and detail on the crisp, dry and clean citrus-infused finish that again offers good persistence if only moderate depth. 88/2016+
