Bright and bracing, with the austerity of an ultracool climate, this opens with fresh, delicate aromas of lemon, apple, honey and florals, underpinned by toasty brioche nuances. The palate is pity and slippery, with vibrant lemony acidic notes and fine bubbles and the rounder, yeast-derived characters. balanced, dry and elegant, this should be terrifically food-friendly.

Bone-dry and bracing, this wafts summer apple orchard scents alongside lemon oil and toast, with a saline back note. Vivacious bubbles and citrusy acidity add exceptional freshness, which works in harmony with the textural richness. Editors' Choice,

A light Sanguine hint leads off, quickly followed by ripe and dense raspberry and blackberry compote flavors. Subtle alder and sweet bay leaf notes dart in, ending with a red tea accent on the finish. Drink now through 2029. -JM

From the Boisset family’s estate in the southern Rhône, close to Avignon and overlooking the Durance River, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre shows a lucid ruby-garnet in the glass, revealing vivid garrigue scents, fired clay, rose petal, and cherry aromas. Immediately refreshing, with excellent lift courtesy of a wonderful vintage in Châteauneuf, elegant red berry fruits mingle with savoury pops of leather and earth, dried sage and classy cedar spices from aging in 228-litre French oak barrels over an eight-month period. All this is framed by soft, satiny tannins and a lengthy finish punctuated by an almost iron-like crushed stone minerality and blackcurrant nuances. Refined and classically styled.

Dense purple-black in colour; cedary, blackcurrant nose tinged with oak spice; full-bodied, dry, richly extracted and concentrated flavours of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant with well-integrated oak; firmly structured and muscular with soft tannins. Lovely mouth-feel. -Tony Aspler

Tangy currant and cranberry is complemented by earthy compost, cedar and crushed rock elements: a nice showcase for the appellation. Made in a thick, substantive style, it offers robust ripeness and hearty oak. -Virginie Boone

Nicely packed, with a mix of bitter plum, boysenberry and blackberry flavors supported by tar and roasted apple wood notes. Grippy finish has light streaks of sage and bay that pierce the fruit subtly. Just a touch extracted in feel in the end, but pretty solid. Drink now through 2030. 112 cases made. — JM
