Smooth and charming, showing coffee, toffee, spice and citrus flavors, this white reveals a complex and delicate, almost creamy, texture, while the bright structure keeps this defined and long on the finish. Drink now through 2027.

Enlivened by bracing acidity, this white delivers lemon-lime, hazelnut, mineral and buttered pastry flavors. Shows tension, yet the balance seems to tip to the tart side. Best from 2024 through 2028.

This nononsense, nicely concentrated wine offers a firm, tannic texture, good blackberry, black olive and sage flavors and a medium body. It comes off a bit lean and edgy but will taste great with a steak. Or wait for it to mellow with some time in cool storage. Best from 2027. —J.G.

Black and ripe, this wine’s candied-cherry flavors have a Port-like sweetness, while there’s enough acidity to keep it juicy. “Bottom notes give it depth and resonance,” said James Conley of Keen’s Steakhouse, while others pointed to the walnut scents of oak, and highlights of thyme and rosemary.

Typically ripe and buttery, this textbook California Chardonnay shows nice nuances of toast, dough and nutmeg in addition to ripe pears and cream. It's a tasty, crowd-pleaser that will suit many occasions.

Spicy oak and good fruit concentration are the hallmarks of this full-bodied, almond and honey-scented wine that charms you with its restraint and rather mature-tasting complexity. A lingering finish suggests sipping after the meal as well as during.

Toasty and leesy, with generous minerality underlying apple, lime and citronella aromas and flavors. Sleek and well-defined, with a virbrant aftertaste of citrus, orchard fruit, stone and spices. - Bruce Sanderson
