Vacqueyras Reviews

Score: 88-90 | March 16, 2023 | Jeb Dunnuck

The 2020 Vacqueyras shows the charming, supple, elegant style of the vintage. Red plums, spiced cherries and peppery notes define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with soft tannins and a good finish. It's not yet bottled, but this will be another charming vintage for this cuvée that's always a good value.

Mulled black cherries, chocolaty herbs, licorice, and peppery notes all emerge from the 2021 Vacqueyras, another ripe, moderately concentrated, yet beautifully textured, charming, satisfying 2021 from this terrific appellation. A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre that was brought up all in tank, it's perfect for drinking over the coming 5-7 years.

Not yet bottled, the 2022 Vacqueyras is a blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and the balance Mourvèdre that's aging all in tank. Red, blue, and black fruits, as well as peppery, floral, and minty garrigue notes, all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, has plenty of fruit, and fine tannins.

Deep red. Highly perfumed, lively aromas of raspberry and cherry complemented by zesty mineral and garrigue notes. Round and silky on the palate, showing a deep, sweet red fruit quality and very soft tannins. Finishes with very good cling and length, leaving behind a jammy red fruit note. This fruity wine is already easy to drink.

Dark purple. Expressive aromas of black raspberry and candied cherry. Lush and open-knit, with good depth and a touch of warmth to its dark fruit compote flavors. The cherry note recurs on the finish, which features supple tannins and lingering spiciness.
