Nuits-Saint-Georges “Les Charbonnières” Reviews

Score: Silver | May 25, 2017 | Decanter World Wine Awards

Complex, earthy and mineral nose followed by a fleshy palate awash with dark berry character and spice. Solid, tannic style but fragrant and still youthful.

Score: 93 | May 31, 2017 | Wine Spectator

A pure, racy red, featuring cherry, strawberry and mineral flavors allied to an elegant profile and a silky texture. Finishes fresh and long. Decant if you must drink now.

Score: 91 | May 12, 2016 | Decanter

A round nose, deeply red-fruited – a slow augmentation of rose petals, but with that you have to accept a little green herb. Mouthfilling, with a weight of fruit and slowly growing tannins, but great texture and an impressive mid palate complexity. This flows through to the finish too – long and mouthwatering.

Whole cluster notes again, just a little more gothic. The palate is complex mix of flowers, licorice and more structure….

Lovely fragrance of perfumed and lightly spicy red fruit. Pretty dry, powder-fine tannins, quite different in texture from the Gevrey Les Murots. Almost austere but I think it will become elegant.

This single-vineyard wine is a showcase of ripeness—fruity and smooth with great plum and wild strawberry flavors. It’s intensely structured and dense on the palate, however, making it a wine for aging. Drink from 2016.

Already showing some game and decaying fruit aromas and flavors, this red also boasts spice and mineral notes. Succulent and firmly structured, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and stone.
Score: 89 | November 1, 2012 | Wine Enthusiast
This is finely structured, with its ripe tannins forming a solid base for the dense red fruit and spicy wood flavors. It’s soli and chunky, showing its youth through the rich texture. Age for 3–4 years.

A distinctly ripe dark fruited nose of plum and black cherry is trimmed in distinct earth scents that carry over to the rich, round and suave flavors that possess good mid-palate concentration and a velvety mouth feel on the mocha-infused finish. This is certainly generous and attractive in its fashion but for my taste is lacks a bit of energy.
