Chambolle-Musigny Reviews

Score: 92 | November 30, 2021 | Wine Spectator

Shades of dark fruit flavors—black cherry and black berry—are accented by floral, mineral and oak spice notes in this smooth red. Ripe, with ample acidity and refined tannins. Fine overall balance and length. Best from 2023 through 2035. 574 cases made, 37 cases imported. — BS

Enchanting red berry and dark cherry aromas with touches of spiced cedar oak and fresh sweeping acidity gliding across the palate. Fine length and soft tannins complete the pretty picture.

Black currant and violet notes are the hallmarks of this dense red, whose tannins build to a chewy finish. The core of sweet fruit will need time to emerge.

From three parcels, all at the top of the village. Vinified with 50% whole clusters. The nose has lots of complexity, and is very pretty indeed - slowly adding more aromatic depth. Lots of structure, depth too and very fine transparency. A wine to wait for - perhaps 2 years - but it's excellent!

Frangrant and inviting on the nose but more closed and less expressive on the palate. Dry, powder-fine tannins holding the fruit and aroma captive for now. More to come.

Strong reduction presently dominates the nose. By contrast, there is excellent verve and that lovely inner mouth perfume to the intensely mineral-driven flavors that possess a silky mouth feel and outstanding finishing depth and length. This is a stunningly good villages level wine notwithstanding that there is a significant proportion of 1er juice in it. Recommended.
