Starting with the 2016 Leopard Red Blend (49% Syrah, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc aged for 20 months in 41% new French oak), this rock star release boasts a saturated purple color as well as a great bouquet of blackberries, currants, crushed rocks, and hints of chocolate. This full-bodied 2016 has fabulous purity, tons of fruit, and a balanced, layered style on the palate. It has two decades of longevity ahead of it.
The Leopard Reviews
A blend of 49% Syrah, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc aged for 20 months in 41% new French oak, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Leopard leaps from the glass with a lifted perfume of red roses, lavender and violets over a core of warm cassis and preserved plums with hints of star anise, eucalyptus and molten chocolate. The palate is full-bodied, rich and spicy with a plush, velvety texture, generous fruit and a long perfumed finish. 198 cases produced.
The 2015 Leopard is a deep, powerful wine laced with the essence of sweet red cherry, pomegranate, licorice, white chocolate, spice and new leather. Pliant and unctuous, but with plenty of tannic clout, the 2015 has much to recommend it.
A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Syrah and 11% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Leopard is deep garnet-purple in color with very pretty red and black currants, spice box and pepper notes plus hints of smoked meats and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, elegant, understated, savory, fresh and grainy, it's minerally with a long and perfumed finish. 192 cases produced.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the 2015 Leopard Red Blend is truly sensational and reminds me of the Cabernet/Syrah blends from L’Aventure in Paso Robles. This gorgeous effort boasts a deep purple color as well as huge notes of smoked earth, chocolate, black currants, and smoked earth. Massively concentrated, yet balanced and light on its feet, it has sound underlying structure and big, big finish. It’s already impossible to resist yet should keep for 10-15 years.
This big, bold red in a leopard-spotted bottle is made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon, and it's powerfully concentrated with tobacco aromas, boulder-sized tannins and cherry-like fruitiness. Ancillary sparks of cedar and sage contribute intrigue.
