N°10 Cabernet Sauvignon Reviews

Score: 93 | January 31, 2024 | Wine Advocate

Mainly St. Helena fruit, with a bit from Oakville blended in, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon No. 10 is based on clone 7, one of the valley's top performers. It's a bit more concentrated and muscular than many of the other JCB wines, its cassis and vanilla notes picking up appealing hints of licorice. Full-bodied with a creamy texture, the tannins become more perceptible on the long finish.

An aromatic and refined nose of dark berries, dark plums, dried herbs, bay leaves and some mild spices. Full body with plush tannins. Creamy dark berries at the center with hints of chocolate mingling with the spices and herbs. Layered and well-structured with a focused, long finish. Try after 2025.

In comparison, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon JCB #10 is a bigger, richer, more unctuous effort that reveals a dense purple color as well as a smorgasbord-like array of ripe blue fruits, chocolaty oak, violets, and ripe herbs. It's full-bodied and concentrated, yet still holds onto a terrific sense of finesse and elegance, and the tannins are beautiful. Both wines are brilliant.
