Black and ripe, this wine’s candied-cherry flavors have a Port-like sweetness, while there’s enough acidity to keep it juicy. “Bottom notes give it depth and resonance,” said James Conley of Keen’s Steakhouse, while others pointed to the walnut scents of oak, and highlights of thyme and rosemary.

Here’s a wine for those who like a little sea wrack in their pinot noir; this one has oceanic persistence and sweet, high-toned strawberry fruit. You could think of the green herb scents as nori, to complement nigiri sushi.

Score: 91 | February 1, 2023 | Wine & Spirits

Bright cherry, tart strawberry and rhubarb notes form the center of this wine, all edged in mineral tannins. The flavors are light and transparent, their delicacy and finesse lasting, along with a heavier note of extract that may merge into the wine with a year in bottle.

Ultraripe, ultrasmooth and seemingly sweet, this jammy-flavored, full-bodied and lowacidity wine boasts dried black fruits, cinnamon, cloves and a touch of honey.

Score: 91 | December 31, 2022 | Wine Enthusiast

A potpourri of spices, herbs and black tea fill the aroma of this complex, oaky and full-bodied wine. Wood char, cinnamon and cloves meet dark plums, black cherries and a touch of spicy ginger.

This rich, broad and mouthfilling wine soothes the palate with generous, ripe dark-plum and ripe blackberry flavors shaded by redwood forest and balsam accents. The moderate tannins are super smooth, adding to the indulgent character of this full-bodied wine.

Score: 93, Editors' Choice | December 31, 2022 | Wine Enthusiast

This robust, fruity and moderately tannic wine will pair well with grills and roasts, as its firm texture and generous dark plum and blackberry flavors have plenty of power. Made from the fruit of several pre-Prohibition vineyards, the wine is full bodied, peppery and complex. Editors’ Choice.

Medium ruby in color, the 2019 Pinot Noir Estate was made from certified organic and biodynamic grapes. It has an appealing broodiness, with notes of iron, tabacco leaf and woodsmoke over a core of rhubarb. The medium-bodied palate is a bit tarter than expected, with bright red berry character and a juicy, slightly dilute finish. Drink 2021-2024 -Erin Brooks
