Maboroshi Vineyard Pinot Noir Reviews

Score: 89 | December 1, 2013 | The Wine Advocate
The 2010 Pinot Noir Maboroshi Vineyard is one of the first vineyards from which the fog lifts in the early morning. Dark ruby-hued, with notes of root vegetables, earth and berry fruit, this soft, round, voluptuous Pinot is far more sexy in the mouth than I expected. Drink this attractive, lush Pinot Noir over the next 2-3 years.

A cool yet ripe nose of attractively complex aromas of red pinot fruit, plum, spice and violets complements the suave and very round medium-bodied flavors that possess a clean and moderately dry finish of average depth and length. Like a number of wines in the range there is a hint of bitterness but in this case it’s sufficiently slight that it may dissipate with a year or so in bottle and my score offers the benefit of the doubt.

Vivid ruby-red. Oak-spiced aromas and flavors of blackberry, cherry-cola and mocha, with a smoky nuance gaining strength with air. Shows very good depth and breadth, with strong finishing punch and lingering vanilla and spicecake notes. On the flamboyant side and drinking very well right now.

Dazzling with silky richness, this wine is so delicious, you can't help but to fall in love with it. Tantalizing with waves of raspberry and cherry pie, ripe persimmon, mocha, red licorice and smoky oak flavors that finish long and satisfying. The balance of acidds and tannins is just about perfect. Calling all steaks for the perfect pairing.

Offers an enticing smoky oak edge to the supple black cherry, cola and raspberry flavors, maintaining a tight focus and charming delicacy.
