Heintz Chardonnay Reviews

Score: 90 | December 1, 2021 | Wine Enthusiast

A rich expression of a coastal wine, this tastes of pear, banana and pie crust, the floral earthy intensity. Tight-grained tannin and oak form around baking-spice and vanilla undertones. Virginie Boone

Score: 91 | October 1, 2020 | Wine Enthusiast

With an inviting nose of butterscotch and sea air, this lengthy and broadly concentrated wine is brimming in lush flavors of peach and pineapple. The juicy richness persists and is lifted by complementary acidity and a wealth of toasted oak.

Score: 92 | April 27, 2018 | Wine Advocate

The 2015 Chardonnay Heintz Vineyard features a very spicy nose of allspice, ginger and nutmeg, with compelling lemon tart, pink grapefruit and apricot notes at the core. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers mouth-filling citrus and stone fruit flavors with a crisp line of freshness and long, spicy finish.

Score: 94 | February 18, 2018 | Wine Enthusiast

From a site situated at 900-feet in elevation and located blissfully close to the coast, this vineyard-designate is intensely salty and briny, in firm grasp of stony mineral characteristics. With a depth and breadth of full-bodied concentration, it’s complex and layered in Gravenstein apple and pear, the aromas a mix of honeysuckle and apple blossom.

This vineyard-designate from a lovely, coastal site imparts flavors and aromas of golden and green apple along with noticeably juicy apricot and peach. Light bodied, it shows an exuberance of fruit alongside notable minerality and a slight hint of sea spray.

A stylish wine driven by vibrant, fresh pear, citrus and honeydew flavors, extended by a mix of oak that turns to butterscotch nuances. Ends a bit raw for now but should reward with time. Drink now.

Dark golden in color and high in acidity, this vineyard-designate was made in small amounts with great skill. Yellow apple skin and a slight slant to tropical guava provide a fleshy intensity and burst of weight on the palate, before the wine settles down and finishes long and lean. —V.B.

Pure and elegant, offering citrus-infused green apple, pear and honeydew flavors. Ends crisp and subtle, with a kiss of oak. -JL
