The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape from Louis Bernard is a forward, sexy wine that's loaded with notions of black raspberries, melted licorice, earth, and spring flowers. It's ripe, medium to full-bodied, has plenty of fruit, and a good finish. It's just another terrific value from this estate. The blend is 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvèdre, brought up all in concrete tanks.
Ripe, pristine aromas of black cherry and blackberry introduce this plump, open-knit wine. It's approachably fruity and juicy, framed by soft, feathery tannins and yielding acidity. Hints of dried herb and earth lend savory complexity. It's ready to drink now, but could hold well though 2024. Best Buy.
While the nose is demure, the palate of this medium-bodied white offers loads of fresh white grapefruit, peach and apricot flavors. Made from a blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Ugni Blanc and Vermentino, it’s fresh and fruity yet edged by veins of salt and chalk. Enjoy this brightly balanced wine now–2022. *#6 of 100 Top Best Buys of 2019*
