The hills forming this vineyard are mainly exposed south/south-east. The soil of "La Fussière" is rich in marl; there is gray and blue marl covered by calcareous scree.
The name "Fussière" is derived from the ancient French “Faisse” or “Faissa” which means "land strip", referring to the terracing on this slope.
