Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru “Les Valozières”

Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru “Les Valozières” bottle

Half of the vineyard is classified Grand Cru and no less than 17 climates are classified Premier Cru. We can distinguish two types of Premier Cru: one located on the Pernand- Vergelesses side and the other, on the "Les Valozières", side of the Grands Crus. The sun exposure is perfect on the eastern side, and the soil is complex which gives the wine structure and power.

The premiers crus around the hill of Corton often provide some very good value drinking, but especially so in 2017. This vineyard is located next to Corton Bressandes and the resulting wine shows plenty of focus, minerality and old-vine concentration, allied to the complexity from a massal selection.
  • Winemaking

Aged on the lees for 16 months with no racking using a proportion of 35% new French oak barrels that had been toasted at low temperatures for a long time to impart a very delicate touch of oak to the wine

  • Nose

Delicate nose, with dry rose, black pepper and fresh red fruit aromas.

  • Palate

Great finesse and a very lovely acidity.
