JCB Phi bottle

Aged exclusively in 100% French Oak in the LaGrance "Phi" barrel, which is made respecting the Golden Ratio in Nature, this Napa Valley 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a stunning comination of three organically farmed vineyards from Oakville and St. Helena appellations. Truly opulent, this wine opens with aromas of dark fruits and a hint of white flowers. The palate is rich, velvety, and complex with bursting flavors of blackberry and raspberry, layered with notes of chocolate and tobacco. Elegantly balanced, this bold wine finishes long, fresh, and fragrant.

Phi is the ultimate expression of Napa Valley Cabernet aged in a one-of-a-kind barrel designed exclusively for us that matches the divine proportions of the golden ratio. In our wine, that barrel brings us the absolute harmony between oak and wine, lending that je ne sais quoi that transcends this into an extraordinary wine to its zenith!

All Cabernet from St. Helena brought up in special La Grange Phi barrels, the 2018 JCB Phi certainly delivers the goods. A thrilling bottle of wine it ranks with the crème de la crème of this great vintage. Lots of pure cassis, flowers, crème brûlée, and classy oak emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a pure, layered, multi-dimensional texture, flawless balance, and a great finish. It has an incredibly singular character and is just a brilliant bottle of wine. It has plenty of integrated oak, which should integrate with 4-5 years of bottle age, but I’d certainly be thrilled to drink a bottle today. It should keep for 30 years or more.
