The Merlot grapes were handpicked at night to preserve fruit character and were gently destemmed before a five day cold soak which increased color, fruit essence and structure. The must was then fermented in small, open-top fermenters using daily hand punch downs. The extended time on skins and hand punch downs helped to extract maximum color, flavor and intensity.

Nose
Our Carneros Merlot opens with tempting aromas of blackberry and black cherry accented by nuanced notes of plum and a dash of cinnamon.

Palate
On the palate, the fruit aromas develop into integrated flavors that are accompanied by elements of pomegranate and dark chocolate. Rich and complex, the wine culminates in a long, satisfying finish.
