Established in 2010, the Calistoga AVA now has 3199 total planted acres ranging in elevation from 300 to 1200 feet. The soil is primarily rocky loam on the hillsides while the center of the valley is made up of clay-silt soils. The climate is warm to hot depending upon the time of year. Daytime summer temperatures may peak above 100˚F and fall to the low 40s˚ at night due to cool afternoon and evening breezes from the Pacific Ocean.
