How to Host

The Boisset Wine lifestyle encompasses more than just great wines. We embrace style and a certain art de vivre to create the complete wine experience. Follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to hosting a party that is the envy of all of your friends.

The most important step in hosting a successful party is proper planning.

Selecting the Date

While "Wine Wednesday" is a popular (and fun!) trend, you will like get more RSVP's for an after-hours happy hour on a Friday evening or a Saturday lunch. Always consider your guest's schedules!

The Invite

With the proper date in hand, the number one question we always get asked is how many people should be invited? We suggest 6-12 of your best friends. A group this size can comfortably fit in any sized room and everyone will have a chance to get involved in the conversation. And, while a quick phone call or text message can likely get your closest friends to your house in no time, a formal invitation or an online e-vite might be a fun way to add a touch of sophistication to your gathering. Remember to request RSVP's and to set a deadline. You don't ever want to run out of wine.

The Location

This detail depends on the type of gathering. If it's an informal happy hour, any room works. Make sure to allow enough room for everyone to sit and be comfortable. For more formal dinners, the dinning room is the logical choice, but if the weather permits, try outside on the patio for a fun change of scenery.

The Details

Glassware - What’s a party without those glorious vessels that will contain the sweet nectar of the gods? Not having enough wine glasses can often be one of those little oversights that can ruin a party. For dinners at our wineries, we use a selection of Baccarat crystal stemware. Browse their fine selection of wine glasses and find the perfect match for your table.

Dinnerware - If your gathering is more than just a few glasses of wine with friends, and food is being served, no table is complete without a set of plates from the renowned porcelain company, Bernardaud.  Find the perfect accompaniment to your table and immediately impress your friends.

How Much Wine to Purchase - This is the most important question when planning a perfect wine party - how much wine should I buy? We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we want you to buy as much of our wine as possible! However, the number of bottles you should purchase depends on how many people you invite. The general rule is that one bottle of wine will pour four glasses. So, for a party of 6 to 12 guests, six standard (750 ml) bottles should provide enough wine for the evening and give everyone a chance to enjoy your delicious selection of wines.
