Mountains Grand Reserve Pinot Noir

Mountains Grand Reserve Pinot Noir bottle

The foothills terroir is more complex and contrasted, characterized by a damp climate and higher altitudes. The complexity of the soils (3 geological areas) along with a greater difference between diurnal and nocturnal temperatures help promote secondary metabolism which takes place inside the grape berry at night during the ripening phase. This phenomenon is responsible for the complexity of the grapes’ composition. Few varietals grown on this terroir manage to reach their peak of maturity. When they are able to do so, they yield highclass wines that are all elegance, complexity and minerality.

  • Winemaking

Harvested by night to keep the freshness, each vineyard lot is fermented separately after a 4 days pre-fermentation cold soak which brings bright color & flavor and silky tannins. After gentle pressing, some selected lots are racked directly into small French oak barrels adding depth and complexity. After 10 months of ageing, each component is blended to create the Fortant signature.

  • Nose

Fine, complex nose with notes of wild strawberry, Morello cherry and mocha.

  • Palate

Full-bodied and elegant on the palate with pure, complex flavors of cherry and spices.
